About WRCO

The West Ridge Community Organization (WRCO) is an all-volunteer, nonpartisan organization, which encompasses the 50th Ward, part of the 40th Ward and a small part of the 49th Ward. Founded in 2005 by local residents, our mission is to improve the quality of life and enhance the diversity of the West Ridge neighborhood. West Ridge is one of the safest neighborhoods in the city. WRCO received formal notification from the IRS on January 19th, 2011 that its application for 501 (c) (3) status had been approved effective June 3, 2008. We are a tax-exempt organization and donations to WRCO are tax deductible.

Join a WRCO Committee

Economic & Community Development which facilitates community involvement in the planning and development process by providing a public forum to review, evaluate and make recommendations for public improvements, development and zoning in the West Ridge neighborhood

Education and Civic Issues explores education and civic issues to inform our residents, create school partnerships to promote common interests and understanding between public schools, private schools and our community.  We also examine and present forums to inform our residents of civic issues that can have an impact on them

Green Committee promotes neighborhood environmental initiatives which includes recycling, Clean and Green events and opportunities for learning about energy conservation and clean water and air.

Communications publicizes WRCO’s activities and mission and is responsible for the website, e-mails and written communications.

Membership & Welcoming Committee recruits new members and membership renewals, handles membership needs and concerns and does fundraising.  This committee also welcomes new residents and works on developing and giving out coupon books for them in the community.
